Lee Marley Group receives King's award
Lee Marley Group is one of only 185 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in 2026. Announced today (Wednesday 6 May), the award acknowledges the company’s outstanding achievement in Promoting Opportunity.
Employing over 1400 people, Lee Marley Group was founded in 1997 and is a large-scale construction subcontractor specialising in the installation of brick facades on high-rise buildings across England and Scotland.
The Kings Award follows a period of recognition for Lee Marley Groups’ dedication to excellence after previously receiving the Princess Royal Training Award in 2021 and 2024 and was most recently named 2025 recipients of the Association of Brickwork Contractors Commitment to Training and Development Award.
Focusing on recruiting local talent where their projects are built, Lee Marley Group creates a genuine pathway into the construction industry for disenfranchised communities offering opportunities to learn a skilled trade or profession, achieve financial stability and raise their economic aspirations.
Dan Clarkson, Chief Operating Officer at Lee Marley Group, commented:
“This award belongs to our people. It recognises the purpose, passion and knowledge they bring to work every day, and the commitment they show in helping develop the next generation of construction professionals.
Our workforce is rooted in the communities we operate in. We recruit locally, from the same boroughs where our projects are built and where our people live, which creates a genuine pathway into the industry for those who might not otherwise have had the opportunity.”
Lee Marley Group has supported over 260 apprentices since 2014 with the ability to accommodate 80 places annually, with a focus on widening access to careers in construction. More than 90% of apprentices are expected to move into long-term employment within the business.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise—previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise—were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s commitment to continuing the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II in celebrating exceptional UK businesses.
Now in its 60th year, the King’s Awards for Enterprise remain the UK’s most prestigious business accolades. Successful organisations may use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years, signalling excellence to customers, partners, and global markets.
Applications for the 2027 round will open on 6 May 2026.
