Lighthouse Charity's 2025 Impact Report reveals record levels of support

The Lighthouse Charity has published its 2025 Impact Report and the figures show a charity rising to meet unprecedented demand for its invaluable emotional, physical and financial wellbeing services across the construction community.

In another challenging year for the industry, marked by rising material costs and labour shortages that inevitably take their toll on the workforce, the charity increased its charitable and leveraged support to £6.3m and helped 6,712 families with needs ranging from emergency food shops to housing support.

Demand grew across all of the charity's services, but most strikingly for its Critical Incident Response Service, which responded to 94 critical incidents; a 42% increase on 2024. The service responds to serious incidents and fatalities both on and off site, ensuring those who have witnessed or been affected receive expert and specialist support. The charity also funded 8,714 counselling sessions, up 51% on the previous year.

Sarah Bolton, CEO of the Lighthouse Charity, said: "Last year we continued with our strategy of increasing awareness of our services and building and supporting our communities. This has been incredibly successful, and we have been able to connect with more people than ever before. As well as supporting 17% more families than in the previous year, we also reached more people through our #MakeItVisible initiative and our Critical Incident Response Service."

To meet the growing demand, the charity now has a team of 12 front line call handlers and caseworkers supporting its 24/7 helpline, and its live web chat service has been enhanced so it too is available around the clock.

The report also highlights the £2.7m of leveraged support secured from external sources, including funding from other charities and by ensuring people access their statutory benefits before the charity releases its own funds. And it demonstrates a remarkable return on investment: for every £1 of charitable spend, the Lighthouse Charity generated £16.96 of social value; a 39% increase on the previous year.

Sarah added: "Our team are so proud of the meaningful impact our work delivers, but we can only do what we do with the continued support of our industry, so I would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who contributes to our cause and helps us change and save lives."

2026 marks a significant milestone for the charity as it celebrates 70 years of delivering charitable support to the construction community, with key events planned across the UK and Ireland throughout the year.
